2021 Spring Softball

Registration Now Open!

2020 – A year none of us will forget!  We are extremely excited to announce that TPSS will be offering a safe and fun girl girls fastpith softball season this spring!  I’m sure everyone is just itching for a little piece of normalcy and I’m hoping that softball might offer us a little bit of that.   Our season will start a little later than usual this year to give as many folks the possibility of vaccination as we can.  I’m really looking forward to a safe and wonderful season!

The goal of TPSS Softball is to provide an opportunity for girls ages 6-13* to play softball in a positive, fair, instructional and safety-oriented environment.  Objectives of TPSS include: teaching fundamentals of the game, helping improve skills, and instilling the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and love of the game.  Prior softball experience is not necessary.

*Girls may turn 14 during the season

Safety Precautions

TPSS will follow all CDC and Local Government rules and regulations.  Masks will be encouraged on the field and mandatory outside the fences.  Coaches will require social distancing whenever possible.  Each gameday will include a check-in station where each player and coach will answer COVID related questions and get their temperature checked.

Sharing of equipment will be limited.  Players are encouraged to purchase helmets with facemasks and softball bats.  Team bats will be available and wiped down after each use.  Batting helmets should not be shared.  It is recommended that players buy their own batting helmet.  If anyone has difficulty obtaining a helmet, please reach out to your coach or email [email protected] and we will provide a helmet to borrow for the season.

Coaches Needed

TPSS is an All-Volunteer organization and we depend on the wonderful parents of our awesome athletes to help keep it such a great success.  If you signed up to be a coach during the registration process, THANK YOU!  If you were considering it but passed, please reconsider.  I can tell you right now, your daughter will remember that you were her coach for the rest of her life.  Build memories.  You won’t regret it.  If you are still unsure, maybe start out as an assistant coach.  We have quite a few seasoned coaches who would be more than happy to mentor you.  We will have a coaches meeting in late March or early April.  Send me an email at [email protected] if you have any questions.

Divisions and Costs

For over 25 years, TPSS has continually been one of the greatest value in all local youth sports.  We are extremely proud to again offer a high quality product at an amazing price.  Please note: the age groups below are based on your athlete's age on December 31st, 2020

8U – Girls born in 2012, 2103, and 2014 - $90.00
8U softball is an instructional league for new players or those transitioning from T-ball that provides instruction in positions, rules, and game play with minimal emphasis on competition.  Games are played with coaches pitching.

10U - Girls born in 2010 and 2011 - $100.00
10U softball is an instructional league that permits growth in positions, rules, and game play with added emphasis on competition while facing first or second year pitchers and coach pitchers.  Umpires are introduced in 10U.  Prior softball experience is not necessary.

13U - Girls born in 2007, 2008 and 2009 - $110.00
13U softball is both instructional and competitive with an emphasis on instruction. Players begin to develop skills in specific positions.  Rules are less liberal and hitters will be facing improving pitchers.  Umpires call balls and strikes and make the calls for plays in the field.  Prior softball experience is not necessary.

Where is the 14U Division?
After 2 years away, TPSS has decided to focus on building our league back up starting with the younger age groups.  If you have an interested player born in 2006, 2005, or 2004 there may be some options.  Please email [email protected] and we can discuss.

Pre-Season Clinics

We are going to kick off the spring with TWO pre-season softball clinics.  These clinics are free and are a great way for your daughter to invite a friend or two who might be unsure if they want to play.  Once they get on the field and run around, I can almost guarantee they will catch the softball bug.  We are still nailing down the dates and times but here is the tentative schedule (more info coming soon):

Saturday April 17th - Wheaton Forest Local Park
8U/10U - 9:30am - 11:00am
13U - 11:30am - 1:00pm

Saturday April 24th - Wheaton Forest Local Park
8U/10U - 9:30am - 11:00am
13U - 11:30am - 1:00pm

Teams and Practice

Once you are assigned to a team, your coach will reach out to you with details on the practice schedule.  Your daughter is expected to practice 1 day a week.  There may also be an opportunity to meet the coaches at the pre-season skills clinics. Your team will begin practice the week leading up to April 24th.

Games and Schedule

The regular season will start on May 1st and run through June 12th on Saturdays.  Games are being played at Eastern Middle School, Hillandale Local Park, and White Oak Middle School.

The season schedule will be released as soon as we begin to know the number of teams in each division.  We will try to keep divisions playing games the same time each week but that will not always be possible.

We look forward to a great season.  If you have any questions please feel free to email me at [email protected].
